Videography & Hyperreality
This is not footage. It is a construction.
Two layers of the same train, overlaid and looped to seamlessness — the wagons become infinite, moving at a fixed speed with no origin and no destination. Beneath it, pedestrians, cars, and crossing lights each follow their own rhythm. Multiple worlds in one frame.
The work is built on Jean Baudrillard's concept of hyperreality — the idea that simulation doesn't imitate reality, it replaces it. Akihabara already performs itself: the neon, the density, the choreography of its crowds. The film holds that performance one beat past recognition. What you are watching is not a recording of a place. It is the place as it has always wanted to be seen.

Norman — this print was made as a gift, and I want to be clear about what that means to me. You didn't have to accept it. The fact that you did is something I won't forget.
